Usb Cdc Driver

USB communications device class (or USB CDC class) is a composite Universal Serial Busdevice class.

The communications device class is used for computer networking devices akin to a network card, providing an interface for transmitting Ethernet or ATM frames onto some physical media. Kids haunted house game. It is also used for modems, ISDN, fax machines, and telephony applications for performing regular voice calls.

The driver has now been installed. It is very simple to do by looking at the pictures above. The CDC Serial driver was for phone who had hardware made by a company called MediaTek. The driver goes under a number of names such as USB RS-232 Emulation Driver as well as MediaTek PreLoader USB VCOM and ACM driver for Android Gadget. The file below can also be used with Lenovo hardware. (i used pic18f4550).

Microsoft Windows versions prior to Windows Vista do not work with the networking parts of the USB CDC, instead using Microsoft's own derivative named Microsoft RNDIS, a serialized version of the Microsoft NDIS (Network Driver Interface Specification). With a vendor-supplied INF file, Windows Vista works with USB CDC and USB WMCDC devices.[1]

This class can be used for industrial equipment such as CNC machinery to allow upgrading from older RS-232 serial controllers and robotics, since they can keep software compatibility. The device attaches to an RS-232 communications line and the operating system on the USB side makes the USB device appear as a traditional RS-232 port. Chip manufacturers such as Prolific Technology, FTDI, Microchip, and Atmel provide facilities for developing USB RS-232 devices.

Devices of this class are also implemented in embedded systems such as mobile phones so that a phone may be used as a modem, fax or network port. The data interfaces are generally used to perform bulk data transfer.

  1. USB CDC and VirtualCom driver on Windows. It's a shame that Microsoft can't get their act together on supporting standard USB class drivers without needing special drivers or INF files to be installed. With Linux it just works. Unfortunately that's no use when customers want Windows.
  2. How do I remove USB CDC Device Driver? On the Start menu (for Windows 8, right-click the screen's bottom-left corner), click Control Panel. Windows Vista/7/8: Click Uninstall a Program. Windows XP: Click Add or Remove Programs. When you find the program USB CDC Device Driver, click it,.
  3. Hi, I have a USB CDC (communications device class) device (Atmel microcontroller) that I want to communicate with via USB. This device implements the CDC services that are required to make a simple serial connection and under XP the driver was simply an INF which instructed the OS to create a virtual serial port using the standard USB drivers.
